There are thousands of Musical Works (or compositions) being created everyday and many share very similar titles. To avoid confusion or misidentification, Musical Works need to be properly referenced by a unique identifier.
While there is an existing standard to identify Musical Works - the ISWC code, it may not always meet all your needs. BOWI offers a very high level of flexibility to identify your works.

The assignment of BOWI codes is centrally managed by BOWI International. This allows for a higher level of accuracy, as all codes are managed by a single entity.
BOWI International is also responsible for applying all the governance rules and maintaining the BOWI registry.
The Governance rules, defined by the BOWI Governance Advisory Board, ensures that operations are both flexible and yet robust to support many Copyright Management Systems.

Any company with a legitimate business interest in the Music Industry may submit Musical Work metadata for the allocation of BOWI codes. Such submissions are processed through BOWI Allocation packs that may be purchased. Please contact email@example.com for details.
